What to do the Night Before Your 5K

You’ve signed up and trained and now it’s almost time. Here are some great tips on making your 5K fun and stress-free.

1.     Get your best sleep 2 nights before race day. People tend to be too nervous the night before their first race so try to get quality asleep two nights before the race.

2.      Keep training easy. In the week leading up to the race, your running distance should decrease. You don’t want your muscles to be too tired to actually run the race

3.     Eat Something Good.  On race morning, be sure to eat breakfast. Try to eat at least 2 hours prior to the race starting and keep it simple. Oatmeal, a protein bar, or toast with peanut butter are all great options. You want something that’s going to give you plenty of energy.

4.     Show up early.  There is plenty to do on race morning. Parking could take a bit of time depending on crowd size, then there is waiting in line for the bathroom and warming up to think about. You should plan to arrive 30-45 minutes prior to the start of the race.
